The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments. There are seven sacraments in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance/Confession, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.
The sacraments are public actions the Church celebrates as visible signs that bear spiritual fruit in our lives. Christ established the sacraments so that the Church could continue the work of our salvation that Christ began in his life on earth. Through the sacraments, we become the children of God, members of his Church, and strengthened so that we may love him and serve one another.
